The emergence of the CSMC Pastoral Council was neither an accident nor the product of human effort; it was born out of divine inspiration, direction, and approval.
The Council was officially inaugurated on Sunday, 5 November 2006, during the International Convention Retreat hosted by the
Ibadan District. The mandate was formally ratified by His Grace, The Most Rev’d Dr. Samuel Adela Abidoye during the Mount Horeb retreat in Kaduna.
Following the inaugural meeting in Ilorin District, pioneer executive officers were appointed in February 2007, and the Council convened its first Retreat and Convention that September at the Nigerian Youth Camp, Eiyenkorin.
From the pioneer chairmanship in 2007 to the present administration, each transition has carried the Council’s mandate forward.
First administration
Convened the inaugural Retreat and Convention from 12 to 14 September 2007 at the Nigerian Youth Camp, Eiyenkorin, centred on the theme “Able Ministers of the New Testament.”
Vacated office upon being appointed District Chairman of St. Mary.
Second administration
Sp. Ap. Pastor Ewulo served as Deputy Chairman, Pastor Haruna Didam as Board Secretary, and the late Pastor E. K. Didam as Council Secretary.
Transitioned in September 2013 after becoming District Chairman of Faith-in-Christ.
Third administration
Appointed in September 2013 with Sp. Ap. Pastor Fola Onafuye as Deputy Chairman. Following the passing of Pastor E. K. Didam in 2015, Pastor Surv. Solomon Adamu Katanga was appointed Council Secretary, officially presented at Galilee, Orile Igbon, in November 2015.
In February 2017 the governing board was reconstituted as the Advisory Committee.
Fourth administration
Serving with Pastor Iliya Adamu Auta as Council Secretary, supported by the Pastors’ Advisory Committee, the Council EXCO, eight Zonal Coordinators and the Directorate of Planning, Research and Planning.
District Supervising Pastors serve ninety-two districts and model parishes.
